I should write a song

One of my favorite songs starts "With a purple umbrella and a 50 cent hat".  Yep, I am not making that up, although I have been known to make up my own words to songs.  And, I think, at least on occasion, mine are better than the original, so maybe I should write a song.  I think if I were to write a song, it would probably be a protest song - something Joan Baez or Arlo Guthrie should be proud of.  But it would be against the current establishment, who, in the 60's and 70's were the protesters.  It is pretty interesting how the world has flip-flopped.  Maybe the song would be called "Flip Flop", and maybe it would be about the president.  How's this for a first line "My name is Barry, I tell the truth very rarely, I believe when you marry that it's a Jim and a Mary, but then I flip flop, everybody be wary 'cause I believe it can also be a John and a Harry."  Yeah, I know, I should keep my day job, and Joan and Arlo probably would not care for my protest song either.  Oh well...   TDOT

Just rambling on current events

Why can't Republicans just take the high road?  Why is it they feel compelled to get down in the muck with the Progressives?  Can they not see that the populus just wants something done?  Well, it's time for them to begin.  Why can't Progressive just discuss a budget?  Why is there not some penalty for House and Senate leadership if they don't obey their own laws?  Just get a budget passed.  Or at least put one forward to be voted on.  And, if not, get new leadership.  Pass a law saying so.

Now...  Ann Romney has a $900 blouse.  My wife has a $100 blouse.  Ann Romney has THOUSANDS OF TIMES more money than my wife.  So, why doesn't she buy more expensive blouses.  I am a little concerned.  For heavens sakes, get some nice clothes.

And, Hillary Clinton is not wearing makeup.  Shame on her for being lazy, but really, so what.  I just want to know why someone doesn't say she has been a fake all these years.  There were stories back when Bill was running for governor of Arkansas that she grew her hair longer and started wearing makeup so she would look more Southern (she's from Illinois).  And rumor has it - it worked.  Bill did get elected.  So it probably follows that she has decided that she will not be running for president.  Otherwise, she would grow her hair out and wear some makeup.  My grandfather-in-law often said that even an old fence needs a little paint sometimes.  Bet ya a dollar that she does both IF she decides to run...  TDOT

For God and Country

Hello out there...  After last night's pledge, I received this from a friend, and frankly it says more than I could have said, so read if you will...  I have removed a few passages, denoted by ... which I did not necessarily agree with Dr. Barton, but there were actually only two.

Dr. David Barton is more of a historian than a Biblical speaker, but very famous for his knowledge of historical facts as well as Biblical truths.  This is from an interview.

Respect the Office? Yes.

Respect the Man in the Office? No, I am sorry to say.

I have noted that many elected officials, both Democrats and Republicans, called upon America to unite behind Obama.

Well, I want to make it clear to all who will listen that I AM NOT uniting behind Obama!

I will respect the Office which he holds, ... and pray for him, BUT that is it.

I have begun today to ! see what I can do to make sure that he is a one-term President!

Why am I doing this ?

It is because: - I do not share Obama's vision or value system for America ;

- I do not share his Abortion beliefs;

- I do not share his radical Marxist's concept of re-distributing wealth;

- I do not share his stated views on raising taxes on those who make$150,000+ (the ceiling has been changed three times since August);

- I do not share his view that America is Arrogant;

- I do not share his view that America is not a Christian Nation;

- I do not share his view that the military should be reduced by 25%;

- I do not share his view of amnesty and giving more to illegals than our American Citizens who need help;

- I do not share his views on homosexuality and his definition of marriage;

- I do not share his views that Radical Islam is our friend and Israel is our enemy who should give up any land;

- I do not share his spiritual beliefs (at least the ones he has made public);

- I do not share his beliefs on how to re-work the healthcare system in America ;

- I do not share his Strategic views of the Middle East ; and

- I certainly do not share his plan to sit down with terrorist regimes such as Iran .

Bottom line: my America is vastly different from Obama's, and I have a higher obligation to my Country and my GOD to do what is Right!
For eight (8) years, the Liberals in our Society, led by numerous entertainers who would have no platform and no real credibility but for their celebrity status, have attacked President Bush, his family, and his spiritual beliefs!
They have not moved toward the center in their beliefs and their philosophies, and they never came together nor compromised their personal beliefs for the betterment of our Country!
They have portrayed my America as a land where everything is tolerated except being intolerant!
They have been a vocal and irreverent minority for years!
They have mocked and attacked the very core values so important to the founding and growth of our Country!
They have made every effort to remove the name of GOD or Jesus Christ from our Society!
They have challenged capital punishment, the right to bear firearms, and the most basic principles of our criminal code!
They have attacked one of the most fundamental of all Freedoms, the right of free speech!
Unite behind Obama? Never!
I am sure many of you who read this think that I am going overboard, but I refuse to retreat one more inch in favor of those whom I believe are the embodiment of Evil!

Majority rules in America , and I will honor the concept; however, I will fight with all of my power to be a voice in opposition to Obama and his "goals for America ..."
I am going to be a thorn in the side of those who, if left unchecked, will destroy our Country! Any more compromise is more defeat!

Retire their president

It's time to start making sure that we have a new President in November.  Plus we need to make sure that we have a Congress that serves the people.  2010 was a good year, but there are those left in Congress, and some won in 2010, that need to be replaced.  They have far outlasted their usefulness, and it is clear that they serve themselves - and worse.  Some of you may know, but I just found out recently, that Congress is exempt from insider trading, and do it with regularity.  Yes, they manipulate the stock market.  Did you know that a story by a local CBS News crew in the Mountain states told that Obama literally was born outside the country, and had proof from both experts and his country of origin, and SOMEONE covered it up.  These people have got to go.  More to come on the way to November...  TDOT

Sidebar:  Did you know that Saturday Night Live (the one with Eli Manning hosting) last week had a skit that was making fun of their president?  No one else knew it either, since it was cut from the show.  NBC has confirmed it.  And they replaced it with a skit making fun of a FOX morning show.  How do you spell "manipulation" of the media?  BARRY.  And while I am at it - who are these people that believe he is handsome and Michelle is beautiful?  I visited the Smithsonian not long ago, and I went into the President's exhibit.  There I saw many of the dresses that former first ladies had worn for the last 200 years.  And right square in the middle of the floor was a huge, single, temperature controlled exhibit with one of the largest dresses I have ever seen.  It was HUGE.  I told my wife that I had to go see who would have worn that dress.  I wanted to make sure I didn't meet her in a dark alley.  Yep, you guessed it - it was Michelle's.  That must be one gigantic woman.  Maybe she has the media all running scared.  Anyway, if you haven't seen it, it's worth the trip.  This story may sound mean, but really, it's just the declaration of truth.

Giving up Pepsi?

Maybe I lost my taste buds over the years.  It seems to me that Pepsi is not as sweet as it once was, that bread barely has a taste, and that chocolate chip cookies are just not good anymore.  Hmmm.  I think I see a pattern here.  Of course, I think it's a conspiracy.  It's not even a conspiracy now.  Obama's henchmen have proclaimed that obesity is a national security problem.  I have news.  Not having a good Pepsi could be a national security problem.  And I am considering giving them up.  I probably have spent $5000-$10,000 over the last 25 years on the beverage, and I am considering dropping them for good, because the producers of the drink have joined the movement.  Here's the deal:  the government is manipulative.  They are working in every aspect of our lives to promote their causes, and their causes, although they seem on the surface to be good, are strictly being done to get more control - and more money for themselves.  Yes, follow the money.  The end justifies the means, and the end is them in control and with all the money.

If anyone knows someone at Pepsi, let them know that one of their biggest fans and a Super Promoter of the product, is considering brewing some tea, with real sugar.  And, for those who wonder, no lemon.  Why would I put sugar in it and then make it sour by squeezing a lemon in it???  (You know I like hot tea too.)  But I digressed.  I want my Pepsi back...  (sigh)  More later...  TDOT

Work with me, People

Why does everyone seem to be on edge now?  People are irritated.  People are aggrevated.  People are mad, and mean, and just plain ticked off.  I believe it's because nobody takes the blame for anything they do, and everyone (it seems) takes credit for the good things, whether they had anything to do with it or not.  I worked with someone not long ago that really thought that she was the only person working, and that she "had to do everything around here".  It's so pleasant now that she's gone, because nothing gets done anymore.  No, no, that's not right.  It seems that there is actually more done now than when she was here.

I have an idea.  Let's try to do better.  Wouldn't it be nice not to be on edge all the time, not irritated, not aggrevated, not mad, or mean, or just plain ticked off?  I think so.  Let's do things, and get things done.  We might even like taking credit for what we do, even if it's wrong.  At least we will have tried.  My guess is that we will actually accomplish something.  Work with me, People...  TDOT

The times, they are a changin'.  It's been a long time since I wrote.  Lots of water under the bridge since then, and my thoughts are different now.  It always amazes me how many times we change in our lives.  I remember high school, then college, then my first jobs, then kids, then other jobs, then graduations and weddings, then grand children.  And then sadness and other things.  And each time, I changed.  But underneath, you know inside, I am the same person that my mother and father raised, with the same values and the same independent spirit.  Only with obligations.  I married well.  And, my wife raised great kids while I was developing a career.  Really great kids, ones that will truly save the world, and, if not them, then their kids.  We had the privilege of baby sitting for two of them last weekend.  What a good time we had, and it rained the whole time they were here.  You know, there's nothing like one of your grandchildren sitting in your lap and saying "what's that on your face?", alluding to the fresh zit that they have spotted, and I was so hoping that no one would notice.  I mean, for goodness sakes, how old do you have to get before you don't have zits!?!

Anyway, it's time for me to move forward and maybe even try new things.  And, as I do, I hope I can remember to put them here.  Clear the air, and make way for new beginnings.  I think my parents would be proud to see me moving on with my life.  Did I mention it was the two of them that gave me the independent spirit?  Well, here we are.  Stay tuned...  there will be a mix of ideas.  Feel free to comment.  Let me know you're out there...  TDOT
